So Long, Farewell

Surprise, surprise! This is my last post as Galaxy Butterfly. I will now sign my posts with my real name on my new, unified blog, Lumos.

Why a new blog? Well, to tell you the truth, this blog was too much like my tumblr. My other blog bored me. So why not unify Confessions of a Galaxy Butterfly and The Shiny Tea Pot to make a better version of them both?

I dearly hope you will follow me on this new adventure. I promise I will be more consistent there. Really.

I wish you all magical adventures, happy little moments and fantastic encounters...

To tell you the truth, I'm getting a bit bored with this blog. I have a few plans for a new blog and I'll share them with you guys in June. Stay tuned!

Alveoli Full of Air

I've never been a fan of pictures with quotes, such as the many popular ones going around tumblr. I think it's because of the one that says, "Take a bad photo, apply a vintage effect and write something in helvetica." Hm.

I made it a personal rule (not that I take myself that seriously or anything!) to only blog said "inspirational photographs" if:
a. I would have blogged the photo anyway, or;
b. The message is somewhat enlightening.

For example... this quote is really thought-provoking. (source)

This used to be my desktop picture. (source)

This one makes me especially happy. It's like this super-girly Umbridge-reminiscent thing, but... that's kind of why I like it. (source of the background photo)

Grab Your Mother's Keys We're Leaving

Asian countries have always intrigued me. They have never been my #1 travel destination, but still, they fascinate me. Oh, how I would love to speak mandarin and backpack through China and small neighboring countries!

And Our Minds Were Meant to Sail

Take a rest from our thoughts (C)

Take a break from this world (C)

And we'll feel miles away (C)

From the places that we used to be (C)

And our minds were meant to sail (C)

All the text in this post, and the title, add up to the lyrics of the beautiful song "Miles Away" by Years Around the Sun, as seen in this absolutely dreamy and perfect video:

To steal the idea of this blogger, I wish I lived in that video. Every time I feel a bit blue, I watch it and it makes me feel better.

Put It In Your Pantry With Your Cupcakes

This post is dedicated to museums! I love to visit all kinds of museums, but I especially like natural history museums - I've always been a bit of a biology nerd.

I'm also a big fan of aquariums. I've actually lived a five-minute-walk away from an aquarium for the past eight months.

There are many things I love about the last past photos. I love the setting, of course, the light, the darkened silhouettes. I love the girls' clothes - skirts, scarves, wool, stripes. I love the whole aura of curiosity around the pictures.

Another thing I love which is completely un-related to these photos, is Simon & Garfunkel (what?). Precisely, these song lines:

"Put it in your pantry with your cupcakes" (Mrs. Robinson)

"Making love in the afternoon, with Cecilia, up in my bedroom" (Cecilia)

"The words of the prophets are written on the subway walls" (The Sound of Silence)

"He said, be careful, his bow-tie is really a camera" (America)

Just because.

Hummingbird Singing...

Are you guys ready for all the adventures Spring is bringing? Like exams (if you're in university - because yes of course exams are fun)? Or better yet, Easter vacations? The absence of snow? Ice cream shops opening? Fun upbeat new music?

Well, I'm almost done half of my final exams, so I'm obviously really excited about finally finishing my first year in university.

The title is a little, little bit of a song I really like these days, Hummingbird by Imaginary Cities.

I'm actually looking forward to buying Imaginary Cities's album and Alex Winston's EP when I stock up on iTunes money, after my exams! Spring sounds...

Of House-Elves and Children's Tales...

You may call me crazy, but here's how I feel: I belong in the Wizarding world - the "Harry Potter" world. I'm sure that I'm actually a witch and my Hogwarts letter got lost somewhere over the Atlantic Ocean. Which is why, lately, I've been surrounding myself with things that remind me of this world: J.K. Rowling's books and the movies based on them, of course, but also pictures reminiscent of that universe, like pictures of quirky homes and greenhouses, feathers, forests, and old-time villages.

A witch's home

Owl post

Hogwarts (though I'm technically too old for it)

Lessons (like Herbology)

The Forbidden Forest and all the treasures it hides

Hogsmeade or getting off the Hogwarts Express

The "parts" of the wizarding world I would most enjoy experiencing would be owl post (I'd love to have my own owl), Flourish & Botts, the Great Hall and the Hogwarts Express ride from Platform 9¾ to Hogwarts.

If you're a fan of the "Harry Potter" universe, tell me what your favorite parts would be!

Title comes from my favorite "Harry Potter" quote, said by Dumbledore in "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" (written by J.K. Rowling of course!):

"Of house-elves and children's tales, of love, loyalty and innocence, Voldemort knows and understands nothing. Nothing. That they all have a power beyond his own, a power beyond the reach of any magic, is a truth he has never grasped."

It's Not a Secret, Why Do You Keep It?

It's spring again! Finally! Whenever spring comes, I have this inexplicable need to listen to She & Him non-stop and read Félix Leclerc's poetry, such as (personally translated from French):

Butterflies wear golden coats
Near the water stream fairies are lined up
And the toads sing about freedom!

I've been able to listen to She & Him a lot, but reading these days is limited to textbooks, sadly. A month from now, though, I'll be out of uni and free to read whatever I wish! Even just in a week I should have more time for myself.

I Dream of Summer. Like, taking out my bike again. Σ

Or, working on the garden. Σ

And certainly, going on roadtrips... Σ

...to nowhere... Σ

...to the sea... Σ

...to everywhere. Σ

Really just do all those things I wish I could do now. Σ
